This photograph was taken from the roof of 206 N. Canyon St. facing southwest across the vacant block that would soon hold the Court House. The Little Rock House at right still exists (now called Church House). It is the oldest house in Carlsbad, and is currently owned by Grace Church, the first and oldest church in Carlsbad. Mr. H. S. Church (standing third from left) for whom Church Street was named. He was an engineer for the Irrigation Company with an office on the second floor of the bank building at Canal & Fox Streets.
